Maxine was born in October 1946.  Maxine's father is Alfred George (Alf) Toovey and her mother was Dorothy Joan (Topsy) Brown.  Her maternal grandparents were Lindsay Murdock Graham Snushall and Margaret Ellen (Nell) McGlenchy.  She has five brothers and seven sisters, named Edward, John, Dorothea, Alan, Peter, Judith, Pauline, Kay, Julia, Susan, Denise and Sharon.  She is the second oldest of the thirteen children.
