Denise was born in May 1961.  Denise's father is Alfred George (Alf) Toovey and her mother was Dorothy Joan (Topsy) Brown.  Her maternal grandparents were Lindsay Murdock Graham Snushall and Margaret Ellen (Nell) McGlenchy.  She has five brothers and seven sisters, named Edward, John, Dorothea, Alan, Peter, Judith, Maxine, Pauline, Kay, Julia, Susan and Sharon.  She is the twelfth oldest of the thirteen children.
