Margaret was born in May 1889.  Margaret's father was George Pownall and her mother was Emma Jane McDonald.  Her paternal grandparents are About Family Tree Pownall and Pownall Family Tree About; her maternal grandparents were Joseph McDonald and Margaret Winterbottom.  She had three brothers and a sister, named Samuel, Joseph, Samuel and Harriet.  She is the third oldest of the five children.
