William was born on July 10th, 1900.  William's father was James Martin (Alexander) McDonald and his mother was Amelia Donnell.  His paternal grandparents were Edward McDonald and Maria (Mary) Maher.  He had seven brothers and two sisters, named Alfred, Edward, James, Patrick, Donald, Thomas, Reuben, Mary and Kathleen.  He was the third oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 79 on January 22nd, 1980.
