Lillian was born in 1858.  Lillian's father was Edward McDonald and her mother was Maria (Mary) Maher.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward McDonald and Catherine Potaskie II.  She had four brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, John, Edward, James, Margaret, Mary and Bridget.  She was the fourth oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 1 in 1859.
