Emma was born on November 15th, 1859 in Duck Ponds.¹

Emma's father was Joseph McDonald and her mother was Margaret Winterbottom. Her paternal grandparents were Edward McDonald and Catherine Potaskie II. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Thomas, Thomas, William, Charles, Ellen, Mary, Margaret and Alice. She was the seventh oldest of the ten children. She died at the age of 73 on November 9th, 1933.
