Charles was born on April 12th, 1866 in Duck Ponds.¹

Charles' father was Joseph McDonald and his mother was Margaret Winterbottom. His paternal grandparents were Edward McDonald and Catherine Potaskie II. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, Thomas, Thomas, William, Ellen, Mary, Margaret, Emma and Alice. He was the nineth oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 47 on October 17th, 1913.²
