Alice's father was Joseph McDonald and her mother was Margaret Winterbottom. Her paternal grandparents were Edward McDonald and Catherine Potaskie II. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Thomas, Thomas, William, Charles, Ellen, Mary, Margaret and Emma. She was the youngest of the ten children. She died at the age of 69 on August 21st, 1937.
