Alfred was born on December 7th, 1895.  Alfred's father was James Martin (Alexander) McDonald and his mother was Amelia Donnell.  His paternal grandparents were Edward McDonald and Maria (Mary) Maher.  He had seven brothers and two sisters, named Edward, William, James, Patrick, Donald, Thomas, Reuben, Mary and Kathleen.  He was the oldest of the ten children.  He died at just 2 days old on December 9th, 1895.
