William was born in October 1835.  William's father was Edward D Hughes and his mother was Catherine Elizabeth Flynn.  His paternal grandfather was James Hughes and his paternal grandmother is unknown Unknown; his maternal grandfather is Unknown Unknown and his maternal grandmother was Mary Flynn.  He had three brothers and two sisters, named Alexander, Henry, Edward, Elizabeth and Julia.  He was the third oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 72 on March 24th, 1908.
