Helena was born in 1906.  Helena's father was Harry George Heathcote and her mother was Mary Brown.  Her paternal grandparents are Richard Heathcote and Sarah Agatha Worrell; her maternal grandparents are George Brown and Hannah Cusack.  She had five brothers and four sisters, named James, Joseph, Harry, Albert, Thomas, Hannah, Ma, Mary and Teresa.  She is the youngest of the ten children.
