Alexander was born in December 1969.  Alexander's father is Catrinus (Dennis) Haringa and his mother was Catherine Mackenzie.  His maternal grandparents were Alexander (Alistair) Mackenzie and Lizzie Dogherty (Aka Ida Davidson).  He has two brothers and two sisters, named Daniel, Donald, Elizabeth and Patricia.  He is the oldest of the five children.
