Leo was born in 1896.  Leo's father was William Thomas Groom and his mother was Margaret Elizabeth McDonald.  His maternal grandparents were Edward McDonald and Maria (Mary) Maher.  He had five brothers and four sisters, named Sylvester, Edward, Francis, Milburne, William, Stella, Sylvia, Olga and Ivy.  He was the eighth oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 78 on March 24th, 1974.
