Paul was born in April 1953.  Paul's father is Douglas Vivien Brown and his mother is Daphne Brenda Sewell.  His paternal grandparents were Lindsay Murdock Graham Snushall and Margaret Ellen (Nell) McGlenchy.  He has two brothers and two sisters, named John, Peter, Sheryl and Christine.  He is the fourth oldest of the five children.
