Mary was born in 1902.  Mary's father was Joseph George Bradstreet and her mother was Bridget Ellen Toohey.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Elvin Bradstreet and Elizabeth Catherine Hughes; her maternal grandparents were John Martin Toohey and Bridget Egan.  She had three brothers and two sisters, named John, Thomas, Joseph, Teresa and Catherine.  She is the oldest of the six children.
